Your internet connection isn't performing well, with speeds ranging from 200 to 300 Mbps. Using a third-party router might help improve performance, but it won't necessarily increase your speed beyond what the modem provides.

You receive only what you pay for, that's the rule. For cable internet, a modem and a router are necessary; sometimes they come together in one device, but both components must be present.

Firstly you need both a modem and router. Yes you can use third party Comcast actually has a sizable list of 3rd party modems that are allowed, plus you are looking at saving on your bill from not having to pay the rental fee. Further more Comcast generally gives 20% more speed than what you pay for, as long as you have the bandwidth available on the node. Due to the nature of how cable internet works, the more people on your node using the services, the potentially slower service you will get.
