Combining XMP 1.0 and XMP 2.0 RAM kits
Combining XMP 1.0 and XMP 2.0 RAM kits
Large price gaps between kits make me wonder if it's even worth spending extra for XMP 2.0. Since I bought a package with that kit and now see it costs 700NOK or 65-70€ more than the XMP 1.0 version, is it still worthwhile? Also, does it really matter in terms of XMP? The differences I notice are just a "D" versus a "Z" on the kit.
It doesn't add value. XMP 2.0 offers more space in the SPD chip, enabling more timings to be set. Many memory manufacturers haven't taken advantage of it, and some board designers simply disable the extra entries since they're usually unnecessary. The impact on use remains minimal, though mixing kits can still be an issue even with identical XMP profiles.
I’ll try the XMP 2.0 version. Need to secure the first kit either today or tomorrow.
