You'd probably need a lot of memory just to run basic stuff, and even then it might not work well. The extra space helps, but the system is already tough to handle—quad rank is already demanding, and triple rank feels like a nightmare.

The term "rank" isn't what you expect here. A 32GB DIMM is definitely dual-rank, but stacking two 32GB units gives you four ranks total—actually quite manageable. Using eight dual-rank DIMMs for 8 ranks would be challenging, while quad rank is exclusive to servers. I don't know what "tri rank" means; it doesn't seem to exist.

Sometimes it only runs without XMP enabled, making the choice between performance and storage capacity more important than you think. If you don’t require 96GB, it’s unnecessary and just adds no real benefit.

People seem to focus mainly on two methods, but I just discovered that tracking ranks across channels is more typical. A quad rank per channel essentially equals eight ranks overall on both sides. Either way, having more than two ranks per channel is really bad because it doesn’t improve performance and adds unnecessary stress to the imc.

Thanks for the feedback. I need more RAM to use those heavy EDA tools. I plan to test it out and find out if it works. My X570 Pro WS Ace claims support for up to 128GB RAM. Do you have any experience with something like that?
