I'm switching from TForce Delta R 8x2 at 3200MHz to the newer 8x2 at 3600MHz. After installation, I didn't adjust the speed manually and it defaults to 2400MHz. When I tried to set it to 3200MHz, the system reported a problem and won't boot. Restarting back to auto speed works but restarts the OS. I'm wondering how to get the RAM speeds higher. My setup includes: Ryzen 5 3600X, X570 A Pro Msi RTX 2060 Raidmax RX500, Lexar 500GB NVMe SSD, and a 1TB M.2 HDD.
Ryzen doesn't handle 4 sticks well, especially with specific IMC configurations. Mixing different speeds and configurations will create problems. It's best to keep everything consistent—either use the original kit or sell the mismatched one and invest in a high-quality 2x16 RAM setup. You could also manually set speeds at 3000 MHz and test 3200 MHz without XMP, but matching all sticks together remains challenging.
Sell the 3200s, purchase more 3600s. Don’t waste time testing if it’s stable—it might not be, and results could vary due to silicon quality. Skipping tests might slow you down more than using the 3200s alone. Consider buying another 3600x2 if you need 32GB RAM across two kits.
Four 3600mhz sticks could work, but Ryzen typically prefers fewer.
Feel free to experiment and discover what you can achieve. I rarely suggest installing RAM with speeds over 3600+ MHz, since many setups fail to boot into Windows due to this. Just because the component appears in the BIOS doesn’t guarantee it will work with Windows.
Zen2 operates smoothly with four dimms. Focus on the rank and chip details. Operating four dual-rank rams at 3600mhz isn’t a straightforward setup, but four SR dimms at the same frequency work better.
