I'm curious about memory performance lately. I own four ballistix RAM sticks—two 16GB and two 8GB—each running at 3200MHz. If I add the two 8GB sticks on top of my current 16GB setup, would it really put pressure on my memory controller? Should I consider a different arrangement? I've already tested this configuration and it works fine, boots, and runs games smoothly. Just wanted to know if there are any real downsides or if stability is guaranteed. Thanks for clarifying my intent.

Optimal scenario: everything runs smoothly.
Moderate scenario: performance drops slightly, requiring a speed of around 2933 to maintain stability.
Poor scenario: the system fails to start altogether.

Middle case won't arise when the operating system runs on an Intel CPU. Their memory controllers are built to last.

The system starts up correctly at 3200 with all four components installed. Your concern about stability versus performance is valid—your setup has been tested and confirmed to work. You’re asking whether you can tell if it’s stable or if changes are actually improving things. The update notes your original question was a bit off, but the configuration you described functions properly.

BSODs and CTDs often occur. There are also tools created to stress-test memory and log faults, which overclockers typically employ.

You can assess performance by testing the games you use most often that require a lot of RAM. Examples include Cities Skylines (with many mods), DCS (with numerous mods), and BeamNG.Drive (especially when traffic is heavy and uses a lot of memory).

I don't interact with the trendy crowd anymore, so my advice might feel outdated. However, since he's passionate about boosting memory performance, you'll likely spot the right resources in his content: https://www.youtube.com/@ActuallyHardcor...ing/videos

Thanks a lot, I'll take a closer look! I'm planning to step away from the "Unanswered" thread for a bit to gather more perspectives or details. Just want to dive deeper into this topic!

To summarize, if memory issues aren't a concern, "game stable" works well, particularly for demanding titles. However, for important data on your system, performing thorough tests is recommended.
