Hello, Upgrading to a Threadripper setup. My system has a 3960X inside a Gigabyte Aorus Xtreme Mobo. I can turn on the machine, the water cooling fan spins and the GPU lights come on, but the motherboard shows a 7-segment display with numbers and then stays stuck on d0. There’s no direct connection to my monitor. I’ve checked the CPU placement and cables, but the issue persists. This CPU came from a working build, so I’m unsure if it’s the main problem. I think the board might be brand new, but the pins look angled. I’m not sure if that’s typical or if the board is faulty. Do you have any advice or photos of the socket pins to compare? I’d love to share my own pictures but it’s tough to capture clearly something so small. TIA

Sure, those pins seem correct. It gives me confidence the board arrived undamaged. I've already adjusted the CPU placement a few times just to double-check my technique. Every time I take it off the cold plate and reattach it, I wonder how much longer I could run the system without the cooler on, just enough to verify the post code before turning it off. It would reduce some uncertainty, but I also don't want to risk overheating the CPU if it gets too hot too soon.
Updated by removing CPU and RAM, using a flash drive with the latest BIOS. Power is coming back—GPU light is gray and the CMOS LED on the IO shield is on, but no further action occurs. The pump stops working and pressing power doesn’t activate anything. I suspect a BIOS update issue and need guidance to retry the flash. Should I focus on USB 2.0 versus 3.0 drives, file organization, or just use QFLASH plus? The first attempt failed because the QFLASH plus light didn’t respond, possibly missing the correct file. TIA
