Code A2 detected during startup
Code A2 detected during startup
System setup details: Motherboard model ASUS Maximus X Hero WiFi, CPU Intel Core i9-9900K, 32GB Ripjaw RAM, 850W power supply, 2TB Crucial NVMe storage, graphics card ASUS 1080Ti.
Build summary: I'm preparing to sell a completed build to a friend. All components functioned until the Crucial NVMe unit failed, triggering error code A2 during BIOS setup.
Troubleshooting actions: Removed boot components, reinstalled ASUS BIOS, changed CMOS battery, used rear panel buttons.
Further attempts: Tested the original 970 EVO drive and various NVMe slots, but encountered the same error.
Current status: Persistent issue despite multiple fixes. Any advice or insights would be valuable. I'm still working through this and appreciate any help.
A2 indicates the system can’t reach the boot drive. Disconnect the HDD, confirm the M.2 slot is present, place your Windows installation USB, and press F8-F12 right away when the computer powers on. This will guide you through the boot menu, select the USB, and everything should work.
Sorry, I only have an NVME drive, didn't mean to mention HDDs though.
When the setup fails, consider connecting via HDMI to your monitor. Since Display Port may not function initially, it’s best to ensure OS is installed first so a display appears even if the HDMI output isn’t ready.
Not sure what caused those extra posts. I tried adding some images, but then it started happening again?
A2 doesn't indicate missing boot device... it won't locate a bootable drive when none is present.
It's a blank NVMe drive, and I've used my Windows setup media on a thumb drive without success.
