We tried Gauntlet for a while but found it lacking in variety. Now we're searching for another cooperative title on Steam with controller and local play options. I'm open to different genres but would appreciate recommendations.

I’ve been enjoying castle crashers and battleblock theater with the gf. She really likes them. There are many beat 'em up moments that feel great. If you’re looking for local competitive options, there are several games you can try online together.

She prefers not to play competitive games, though she did have fun with Rocket League. She generally avoids sports and contests, which might explain why the game works so well for her. Consider getting a copy of Battle Block Theater—you haven’t tried it yet.

Think of a version similar to Divinity: Original Sin: Enhanced Edition. It offers turn-based battles, which are enjoyable when played together from home. The strategic elements encourage some great conversation.
