Consider swapping the CMOS cell. It should be a CR2032 found on the motherboard, resembling a silver coin.

Check the battery voltage using a voltmeter. If it drops below 2.9 volts, it’s faulty and should be replaced. A fresh battery should read around 3.0 volts; values near 3.1 or 3.2 are acceptable. Voltages above 2.9 volts aren’t ideal—like 2.95 volts—as a sign of trouble. Any reading at or below 2.9 volts requires replacement without hesitation. Between 2.91 and 2.92 volts, replacement is still recommended because the battery will likely fail soon. Gently clean the contact points on the battery holder, including the small latch and the spring, as these are key electrical connections. Lightly sand the areas where the battery touches each component with fine sandpaper if needed. If a new battery doesn’t perform properly, it indicates a misconfiguration or incorrect settings. Try setting default values first to see if the issue resolves; if it persists after defaults, a misadjustment is likely the cause. A common error message reads “Overclocking failed - Enter CMOS to reconfigure,” meaning the system is trying to fix itself incorrectly.
