CMOS battery failure leads to computer shutdowns.
Hey everyone, I just got a new RTX 2060 and ran into an interesting issue. When I put the CMOS battery in, the system starts briefly (lights up, fans spin) but then stops completely. Even with power on, it stays off for a while. If I skip the battery, it works normally—except for the bugs that come with missing one. Could this be because the CMOS battery is dead? Or maybe the power supply is faulty? I’m still learning about computer tech, so sorry for any confusion.
They are affordable enough to swap out when the existing cell fails. Make sure you're placing the battery correctly—though it should only be inserted one way, improper removal might harm the holder. A non-functioning battery behaves similarly to a dead one, triggering warnings, but a faulty or misplaced cell could cause issues.
