I'm currently traveling and writing this on my phone. We left our younger sibling unattended, and I didn't secure my computer. My 290 has some instability right now, so I'm trying to keep him from causing trouble. Could I remotely lock or shut down the PC using my phone? I don't want it connected to my home network, but if I have the IP addresses and other details, is that feasible? I just want to be sure he doesn't use it without asking.

Refers to connecting via mobile data instead of a local Wi-Fi network.

You’d need to enable remote control access on your device, which is quite problematic unless you’ve set up something like this—I suspect you wouldn’t be able to do it otherwise.

Worried he’ll discover all your explicit content? Consider using tools like LogMeIn for full PC control on a mobile device—but it’s quite expensive now. TeamViewer could also help. However, unless you already own them, you might be in trouble.

I don't have remote access activated... Ugh. Just don't want him messing with my games, I guess. He might not win, but I'm being cautious.

Yeah, that was a joke. I keep editing my post, give it a look. I'm afraid you're out of luck if you're already gone from your computer.

I aimed to carry this out without any connection to my PC because I didn’t have access. I just forgot to secure it before I went away; otherwise, I wouldn’t have left it running.

No, you don't need direct access to your PC to use it.

You must add a companion app to your PC. It won't work when you're not physically near it. The simplest option is Chrome Remote Desktop. As long as Chrome is active—whether running or in the background—you can manage your computer.
