I'm in a flat with many neighbors and various Wi-Fi hotspots. This seems to be causing the weak signal and slow speeds. Being just a few meters from the router (TL-WR941ND) doesn’t help much. I’ve worked as a network admin but never faced such poor performance. Apart from changing channels, is there anything else I can do? The setup is only 2.4GHz with mixed mode, so options are limited.

2.4 GHz may become busy, particularly in a crowded space. Consider moving to another frequency. Also, a quick thought: faster speeds aren't guaranteed just by being nearer to a router; sometimes it's the opposite. Your Wi-Fi coverage typically forms a doughnut shape.

People usually use dual-band gear because it covers more coverage without dealing with too much overlap. Range isn't important when nearby signals are strong.
