Cloned HD on SSD installed, but Bootmjr is no longer detected.
I made a copy of my HD to an SSD. After disconnecting the original, everything worked smoothly. Now I want to use the old HD as storage. I reconnected it, set it as the first device in BIOS and it recognized it without issues. Restarting gave a black screen because the Boot Manager wasn<|pad|> (or Boot Manager) was missing. When I used just the SSD, everything functioned properly. So what am I doing incorrectly? Please help me. My motherboard is M5A78L-M/USB3, running Windows 10 64-bit. If the SSD is installed alone, the PC boots fine. But when both are installed and I switch BIOS to use the SSD, it shows a black screen saying Boot Manager is missing. It seems to happen only when both are present. Does the SSD by itself work?
Ensure Hot Swapping is active on the SATA ports and connect the drive after the PC powers down from the SSD. In Windows, insert the hard drive and format it via Disk Manager. If these steps aren't feasible, use a SATA to USB cable and format the drive as an external storage device.
Yes, hot swapping involves connecting the old drive while the computer is running.
I just tested the SSD alone again and it crashed with a black screen boot manager missing.
