Hello! I just completed some tests and noticed my CPU isn’t performing well. After checking, I saw the turbo clock was set to 2.7GHz while the base clock is 3.7GHz—this seemed odd. I reset the BIOS and tried again, but the same issue persisted. Everything seems to work fine in the task manager, capping around 2.7GHz. In the BIOS it still shows 3.7GHz. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Your specs include an i5 9600K @3.7GHz (often boosted to 4.7), a GB gigabyte Z390 UD 16GB DDR4 at 3200MHz, toughram memory, a GTX 1060, and a 500GB SSD with a 700W PSU from NZXT Kraken X52. Even during PCBenchmarking, the speed never exceeded 2.66-2.7GHz.

The BIOS settings for clock speed are usually adjustable in increments; setting it to a value other than standard values like 2.7, 2.5 or 3.0 will still reflect that fixed number internally. For stress testing the CPU, common tools include specialized software such as Prime95 or OCCT. The cooling system used depends on the motherboard and case design, but many use air coolers or liquid solutions. Your voltage during overclocking is often monitored with a multimeter or monitoring tool to ensure it stays within safe limits.
