I don't understand what's going on, but when I play games on my HP Pavilion gaming laptop, the CPU speed and power consumption drop. I experienced a significant decrease in FPS. After replacing the motherboard, the issue temporarily resolved, but it's recurring again. I attempted to lower the CPU voltage, which helped at times, but the problem persists. Any advice would be appreciated.

Check the system details using HWInfo. Observe the current readings or save a log for deeper insight. What are the temperatures? Are the fans running smoothly? What speed are they spinning at? If zero, inspect for dust or blockages hindering performance. Consider switching the Windows Power Management profile (Balanced, High Performance). Without further info, it seems your CPU is throttling.

CPU model is Ryzen 5 5600H, RAM capacity is 8 GB, GPU is GTX 1650. Temperatures during operation are between 95-96°C, fans are running smoothly but making noise. Clock speed decreases from 4.2 GHz to around 2.6 GHz during games, and the power consumption drops from over 30W to 7-8W.

It indicates whether your system is experiencing thermal throttling. The details about removing components are for checking heat dissipation and cooling setup.

It looks like the system is throttling due to thermal limits, and TDP doesn’t reflect actual power consumption. Given the poor cooling setup, the best approach might be lowering the voltage as much as possible, using a cooling pad, and maintaining it regularly with a clean interior.

I haven't looked up the hwinfo yet. I should check for thermal throttling first. The warranty lasts until June, so it's probably safe to wait. You might want to reach out to customer care just to be sure.

If the device cools down too fast once under stress, I’d strongly recommend checking it under warranty. I’m counting on a support specialist who understands 'thermal throttling' so the engineer can act properly. Please include thorough notes about your troubleshooting steps.
