Clicking the mouse left and right while playing Shooters causes issues.
Hey there (this is my first time here!), Here’s a quick update about my issue: I’ve been facing some difficulties lately. It began a while back but mostly involves playing FPS games like Siege, COD, DRG, Fortnite, and Apex. My Logitech G502 X Wired mouse started acting up. In the video you saw, I wasn’t actually clicking the mouse, yet I was still shooting in-game. It’s not because the mouse is dirty—though it could be—but these problems happen randomly and haven’t occurred until about a month and a half ago (when I restored my PC in September).
I’ve tried several fixes:
- Reinstalling and updating drivers
- Cleaning the mouse
- Disabling NVIDIA Reflex
- Removing and reinstalling Logitech G Hub (with the latest update)
- Purchasing a new mouse (Logitech G502 X Plus, as shown in the video)
I searched online for solutions but found nothing helpful. I’m not very tech-savvy yet, so maybe something simple was accidentally turned on. Still, I’ve been testing different games to see if this happens, and it’s been happening for almost two months now. Even after getting a new mouse, the problem persists. I’m doing my best to figure it out and will keep trying everything.
Summary: Both left and right mouse clicks are stuck, causing in-game shooting without input. Games affected: Fortnite (yes), THE FINALS (yes), Siege (no), Deep Rock Galactic (yes), COD BO3 (no), Apex Legends (no), Garry’s Mod (no), Alan Wake 2 (no), Rocket League (no), Lethal Company (no), Counter Strike 2 (no), GTA V (no), Project Zomboid (no).
I’ll keep testing and update this post soon. Hopefully, someone can help me out! Thanks a lot!
Best, KӨDΣƧ
Interesting. It seems all impacted titles rely on Unreal Engine 4 or 5, and using a second screen might interfere with mouse input. Unplug the secondary display. Stop any background programs that send alerts. See if you can reproduce the problem.
Is it a wired or wireless model? Software can sometimes cause problems, and firmware updates might damage the hardware. There seem to be some issues beyond typical mouse problems, possibly linked to how games interact with button inputs. It’s possible the physical button is stuck instead of responding normally, causing games to treat each press as a single action rather than a continuous click. Many gaming mice are built poorly, leading to premature failure from issues like cheap plastic, bent components, or faulty software. Charging problems and worn scroll wheels are also common complaints.
I used a previously wired mouse but switched to a wireless one, assuming the old model caused the issue. For software, I only have Logitech G HUB installed and use game-specific presets for button settings, though I haven’t tried the macro features in the app. I tested three different mice and each had the same problem.
Try this and inform me of the outcome. You mentioned it might be related to the monitor. I have a tool called LittleBigMouse that helps align my monitors accurately and avoids resizing problems when moving windows between them. My monitors are 27” at 1440p and 32” at 4K. I plan to remove each one step by step while testing in-game to check if the issue appears.
Great idea! I only considered it when you mentioned monitors, and I’ll remove them after work. I’ll keep you posted on the progress! Thanks for the encouragement!
