Clicking left resolves the issue in the game? [Resolved]
A few days ago I upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11 and whenever I play Rust I encounter this issue, only Rust causes it.
Each time I click the left mouse button I can see my desktop for half a second, it feels like pressing alt + tabs.
I tried different solutions but none worked, checked forums, Steam posts, Reddit, chat GPT, nothing helped.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
I attempted several solutions but none succeeded. I explored various options across different platforms, including forums, Steam posts, Reddit, chat GPT, and nothing worked.
What have you tried?
A few days ago, I upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11. If you upgraded using the internal upgrade method, you should:
1) Backup all mission-critical data
2) Create a bootable USB installer for Windows 11
3) Reinstall the OS after wiping the older installation clean (format) and disconnecting from the internet
4) Manually install all drivers with the latest version via an elevated command, such as right-clicking the installer and selecting Run as Administrator
Are you really required to reinstall Windows? It can be frustrating to reset the plugins for Fl Studio, especially since you're passionate about music production.
Hi there! Before reinstalling Windows, consider disabling overlays such as Steam and Discord, updating or performing a clean install of your GPU drivers, and turning off fullscreen optimizations in Rust’s compatibility options. Also, look for background applications that might be taking focus and check Rust’s files through Steam.
If you carry out your research carefully, you'll notice that those who have moved from an older operating system to a newer one through the internal upgrade route have experienced issues comparable to what you've observed. These problems stem from internal OS corruption, and no matter what steps you take beyond reinstalling the OS, it will only serve as a temporary fix—not a lasting remedy.
If you calculate the situation, you'll find yourself facing more downtime and troubleshooting than a clean installation would require, especially when starting fresh.
I refreshed the system, performed a fresh installation, and applied all the drivers. Still the same issue with rust…
Also, it’s possible I installed Windows while connected to the internet via a cable—could that be the reason?
I attempted those and then reinstalled Windows. It might be necessary for a third attempt during the reinstallation; if the issue persists, I'll revert back to Windows 10.
I resolved the issue by reinstalling Windows three times, during which I was installing without an internet connection. When Windows requested a connection, I connected to the internet. It’s unclear exactly how the fix worked, but it was successful after two clean reinstalls of Windows 11.
I'm glad you found a solution. For consistency, when asked to connect online during account creation for OS installation, you should do this;

This is what I intended with offline mode installation. Windows downloads and installs drivers it believes are suitable for your system, which can cause problems. I usually go offline and install drivers manually before connecting to the internet to apply updates.
