Hello, I'm exploring options for a mid-to-high-end PC setup centered around the new Corsair 4000D case. While looking into components, I needed to figure out if my RAM sticks would fit with the top-mounted rad design. My build includes Corsair Vengeance (two 16GB sticks) in 3600 DDR4 memory. The case is Corsair 4000D Airflow, and I'm considering a 280mm rad for the front or a 360mm rad on top. I'm still deciding between three motherboards—Ryzen 9 3900X or 5900X—and would value any advice. The motherboard selection isn't set yet, and I'm weighing options for both. Thanks!
They wouldn't allow a rad in the top if you couldn't fit any ram in.
Absolutely, I want to confirm before purchasing components. In certain situations, they might offer a 280mm RAM slot at the top, but that doesn't guarantee a high-profile RAM will work either.
It should work without issues. The 4000D isn't a very compact design, but you'll have a narrow 360mm radius and just one fan setup.
Check compatibility using PCPartPicker. Note it doesn't confirm RAM height matches perfectly, but the 4000D Airflow should work fine. Vengeance RAM is also low-profile and the 4000D offers sufficient space. For the motherboard, the X570 Tomahawk or Asus X570 TUF are solid choices. The TUF has strong VRM and good value despite limited external interfaces. Keep in mind that a dedicated mounting slot for a radiator doesn’t guarantee no interference from other components—radiators can be thicker, leaving little room for tall memory modules. This is typical in compact builds.
Thanks for the update. I was also checking out the Asus X570 motherboard, but I had worries about its cooling performance.

The Asus X570 TUF is a slight upgrade from the X570 Tomahawk, but it’s still a solid board and would fit well with a 5900x. However, it might need a BIOS update, and since it lacks USB Bios Flash, you’d likely need an older CPU to install the update. If you purchase from a local PC shop, they probably can handle this if you ask. With a 3900x, there’s no problem. The Tomahawk includes USB Bios Flash.
