Ethanol can be used to clean up used thermal paste, but make sure it's pure and in a suitable form. It's effective for removing residues without damaging most components.

We use ethanol for its disinfecting properties. An alcohol wipe provides a convenient and effective way to clean surfaces.

Ethanol is the main substance that causes intoxication in drinks and is similar to isopropyl alcohol. If it's safe for consumption, it won't harm your computer, but use it in moderation.

You're doing a solid job with just a paper towel and a lot of effort. It's fine if it doesn't cost much during shortages.
