Cleaned CPU pins but experiencing boot issues and BIOS update failures.
I installed the cooler today but made a few mistakes. I skipped heating the thermal paste and damaged the CPU when removing the old one. After cleaning, the pins felt loose and some paste separated, breaking connections. Everything worked again, but now I’m having issues with the BIOS update. The system boots fine, yet it keeps showing a DRAM error. The BIOS flashback tool didn’t help, and the power stays on even though it should reset. My question is: is my CPU still functional? How can I halt the BIOS update if it won’t finish or never started? Thanks for your time.
Avoid trying to update the BIOS on a shaky system. It seems you're noticing something similar.
You cannot undo it; simply shut down the PC. According to what I understand, the ASUS BIOS Flashback feature can help restore a damaged flash memory, so all you need is a functional CPU and a new flash file. Also, remember to quote sources if you respond to someone—others won’t receive any alerts.
Thank you very much for your support, even though this is disappointing.
It seems your memory is acting strangely again. I reinstalled the CPU and the same issue persists with the graphics light. I checked all RAM slots with both sticks, and only the A slots near the CPU are functional. Currently, I'm running single memory channel, but at least the system is operational for now. Thanks again for your support.
