You’re planning to upgrade your PC, sell the old one on eBay, and keep Windows 7 running while removing everything else. Since all data is on one hard drive, you’ll need to extract just the OS and relevant files. You can use tools like DiskPart or GParted to partition and wipe the drive, then reinstall Windows 7. Make sure to back up important data beforehand.

A straightforward reinstall won't remove your files from the drive. Though someone determined might still salvage data, it's unlikely. For stronger protection, use a bootable DBAN image and run "autonuke" when prompted. This process may take hours but will erase everything. Once finished, you can reinstall Windows for the next user.

He delivers the honest message. Just a reminder that most sites, even eBay, state you can't sell used machines with HDDs included.

Take off the sticker to find a concealed screw. Take out the screw. Drill a hole through the screw hole completely into the HDD. Pour water and baking soda into the hole, then remove the mixture. Put the screw back in. Ignite it. Dig a hole, put it inside, seal it, and construct the house over it.
