Oldschool RuneScape is a reimagined version of the classic game from August 2007. It features a small development team of just six members, with player input shaping every update through voting systems. Players decide whether changes are approved by casting a majority vote. The game has expanded its reach by offering permanent free-to-play access, boosting player numbers significantly. New features like Bonds let users purchase membership for in-game currency, available at 1 million credits for 14 days. The community remains active, with many enthusiasts sharing their experiences and preferences.

I enjoyed Oldschool. It stood out more than the current modern RS, which feels similar to any other MMO in my view, but it offers a stronger focus on money collection and weaker visuals.

I started playing OSRS from the beginning in 2013. I took some breaks along the way, but I’m planning to return soon. I don’t really care about free-to-play since it restricts my experience once you take advantage of all member perks. I’ve also completed all the paid content, including the free quests. I’m currently working on the final boss of Recipe for Disaster and just need to gather more QPs.

I had already felt excitement when RSC returned, and then I noticed the images. The vintage look really appealed to me.

RSC remained accessible for many years, though the server eventually crashed and Jagex had to shut it down.
