Hey everyone. I just remembered a trip down memory lane from 2002 when I bought an IBM 600x for $42AUD. It’s running great now, just needs a fresh battery. This made me think about others who might have purchased machines that can handle 16-bit applications natively. Can’t wait to get SimTower up and running again and relive the original Doom experience. I’ll share some photos once I have the chance.
Sure, it sounds like you’ve got a great deal going on—just spent a lot of money on an old T21 from work for free, but now you’re looking to upgrade it with a new battery and maybe some VMs. You really appreciate the nostalgia of something from about 20 years ago!
I really like this concept! The IBM 600x was my first notebook I received from work back then. It lasted through everything and kept me active because it weighed a lot—2 tons! Now I’m older, heavier, and I switched to an HP slim notebook; it doesn’t matter anymore... hmm.
