Hello, I'm exploring the past of PC components and curious about the dual CPU legendary boards. Specifically, I was thinking of the Abit bp6 and Asus a7m266-d. Are there any others worth mentioning? Cheers!

Except for the time Linus crafted that gaming rig for roughly $100 (just the CPU, RAM, and motherboard) with a dual socket board and two quad-core processors, I’m ready to wager someone tried it and made their own. However, server-grade Gdourado aims for consumer-level performance.

For the purpose of our review, it looks promising. TechYESCity created a video showcasing a 16-core desktop built from older Xeons—worth checking out if you're looking for something under $400. It's not top-notch, but it's decent value.

I'm not currently discussing. I'm focusing on retro builds. From what I've learned, the bp6 was the dream board for many. The a7m266 worked well with high-end AGP cards such as the 9800 pro for gaming. Cheers

Back in the day when the Pentium 4s launched, many hobbyists kept using Pentium III systems for gaming. Dual socket 370 boards with Tualatin chips offer much more power than older Pentium 4 models. (Check me if I'm mistaken—I haven't touched socket 370 hardware in a while) Right now I own a Supermicro P3tdde and really enjoy it; it works well as both a server/workstation and a solid retro gaming rig if you're up for it.
