Bad news Online-only for a single-player experience is a terrible move. The game freezes whenever the connection drops, and it affects how long it stays playable. Server shutdowns also cause the game to stop unless developers remove the always-on requirement beforehand. Civilization 6 didn’t have this issue—you could enjoy singleplayer offline. It looks like they’re now following this trend seen in many other titles today. Fingers crossed they reconsider before launch.

I just discussed what I picked up from this clip regarding Denuvo. I mentioned it might support an always-online condition. All possibilities remain until the release is complete. The FAQ details could be updated. Hopefully, it won’t end up needing constant connectivity.

It might also need a $100/month fee. But until they actually put it in place in a way that feels more toxic than just adding code, the rumor this person is talking about seems baseless. So far, it’s clearly untrue based on what 2K has shared. Now if that statement in the FAQ vanishes, that’s something worth getting upset about. But otherwise, I’ll keep going with my high seas version of Civ V—one that doesn’t require a paid launcher.

The straightforward answer is to avoid purchasing it.
