Hello! Your new Cisco AIR-CAP3502I-E-K9 access point is set up for control. You can find an autonomous version on the official Cisco website, but you’ll need a contract and account to download it. No worries if you’re unsure—there might be alternative ways to obtain it without a contract.

You must have a contract or face restrictions on using the software. Any alternative would be seen as software theft.

No, please don't share your serial number. You can request the software directly through the official support channels.

This AP has been around for a while and doesn't handle newer standards like 802.11n.

It could be connected to another router for better address management. I’m not very familiar with access points, but they’re similar in design. What made you choose this device over something simpler?

You'd still require a functioning support agreement.

These devices require a controller for operation, either integrated within the AP in a particular mode or managed externally. They are built for centralized management using multiple units from one controller or a pair of controllers.

He wanted to upgrade, so I borrowed one of his old units for my basement. He still has the controller and doesn’t want to part with it.

You might find it simplest to purchase a 2504 controller from eBay and pair it with the included software.
