I recently upgraded to a 5700x and wanted to check if PBO auto is beneficial. The default is set to Auto in Gigabyte Bios. After testing Cinebench on both PBO auto and manual mode, the results were solid: Auto Score 13743 (4.21Ghz sustained), Max Temp 63°C; with enabled score 14739 (4.45Ghz sustained), Max Temp 76°C. Given older games ran fine but newer titles needed more cores, it seems worth keeping it enabled. The scores look decent, especially cooler performance on your setup.

The PBO setting aligns well with the observed performance. On a 5700X it shifts the score from 5800X to roughly 5700X again, which tends to sit near 15,500 on Cinebench R23 at stock. If you're okay with higher power consumption and heat output, applying PBO here can provide a 5-10% performance increase without major drawbacks. You can also fine-tune it by modifying TDC and EDC values for the best balance. Sometimes Ryzen processors draw too much current, leading to overheating and forced clock reductions. Finding the right balance keeps things stable while still gaining benefits. As @GuiltySpark_ noted, Curve Optimizer is another option to try undervolting for lower power and temperatures, though it may risk instability and needs careful testing.

PBO offers a great way to achieve free performance by experimenting with the silicon lottery while minimizing risk. If you want more control, manually tweak the curve using frequency and voltage offsets and continue testing with cinebench. Be cautious not to push too hard with either frequency or voltage, as it can easily reduce performance, but it's manageable. Many people worry about operating temperature, but in reality, a slight rise in power consumption has little effect, and running silicon outside its optimal range doesn’t noticeably shorten its life.
