We own three of these machines, with my mom, dad, and I sharing one. The one I have is the only one fully functional and has the most RAM. It's just one of several older Macs in the area, but it performs better when used together.

The system isn't compatible with OS X, which means Chrome OS is a great choice—it's lightweight and runs quickly. It might work just fine.

Chrome OS isn't that heavy feel on Ubuntu or Linux Mint, which offers a much lighter weight while still handling everything Chrome OS can and more.
