Chrome video playback consistently causes frame rate drops in most games played, regardless of whether Vsync is enabled or disabled, windowed, borderless, or fullscreen mode is used. GPU drivers have been uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times without resolving the issue. Firefox runs smoothly, but intermittently halts my computer’s operation after a random period of time following launch, even after being closed for extended periods. Extensive testing confirms Firefox as the source of these freezes, and reinstalling it is ineffective. My gaming laptop functions without Chrome video issues, suggesting a different problem entirely. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Hardware acceleration in Chrome is disabled.

Enable hardware acceleration first. Then, what are the computer specifications? Chrome consumes a significant amount of memory.

An i7-8700k processor with 16gb of RAM and an SLI configuration using two GeForce GTX 1080 graphics cards. Performance logs for Firefox and Chrome under identical conditions demonstrate consistent results.
