Choosing the OS for the new build.
Choosing the OS for the new build.
It seems it's time to upgrade my PC since most of its components are over a decade old and I'm struggling with choosing an operating system. Win10 is no longer supported, while Windows 11 has performance issues for gaming and driver problems. Linux appears as a potential alternative, though I haven't tried any distro before.
Many people using this system run Windows 11, and I don't see it being worse than Windows 10. The drivers for various applications remain consistent between Windows 10 and Windows 11.
Apple
Haha funny.
Win11 seems to have faced more performance drops in games compared to win10, and there are some worrying hardware problems, such as the recent phison SSD controller issues.
I wouldn't underestimate the challenge you'd face without prior Linux knowledge. How do you handle frustration and impatience while navigating that path? If you're mainly focused on gaming, it might be simpler, but if you use your PC for many different tasks, expect some tough times.
I mainly play video games, check the web, and listen to music occasionally with document editing and image changes. Sometimes I might install Linux on my current setup and give it to Mom, but this machine still has some functionality left.
Hi, for a fresh PC setup I suggest Windows 11 24H2 since most problems have been fixed. I rely on it every day for gaming, office work, browsing, videos, streaming, and advertising. It runs smoothly with no errors or issues. Please do some research to pick the OS that works best for you on all platforms. Cheers, from an old-school gamer and PC builder.
And you assume she can handle Linux without any prior knowledge? That won’t work out. Linux has its strengths, but it’s not intuitive, particularly for beginners or those who aren’t used to the system. It often causes frustration, technical issues, and compatibility problems. You can’t just jump into Linux and hope for the best.
