I’m looking at upgrading my CPU to eliminate bottlenecks with my RX 7900 XT. I want to run 1440p at 120-140fps in modern games. My budget for the CPU is between $300 and $700. I have an AM4 motherboard and am open to changing it, which would be ideal since I already have plenty of components for a backup system.

I’m also seeing mixed advice online—some suggest the R7 5800X3D around $300-350, while others point to the R7 5800X at about $120 used with similar performance. This makes me realize I should seek more specific guidance from the community before deciding.

Right now, 5800X3D has a high markup. I suggest choosing the 5700X3D instead. It’s about $200.

It's true! The 5700X3D performs well compared to the AM5 CPU in games, especially when contrasted with the 7800X3D. It's a solid choice for around $200!

It seems like you're experiencing significant performance issues with your current setup. You're on a high-end 3700X but still getting full load on games while the GPU is barely functioning at 65°F. You're considering upgrading beyond that to avoid future headaches.

Upgrade from the 5700X3D, though it may exceed your budget. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/XRg9sL

; It's unclear what I'm seeing here. I wasn't anticipating many suggestions around $300-200, and I'm concerned about upgrading only to require a larger change later on.

Review the video. The 5700X3D performs much better than the 3700x and should provide long usage. If you need something superior, you’ll have to exceed your budget. This model is priced at $200 because it uses the same motherboard and RAM as your current setup. You already own the other parts. We can adjust the cost to $550-$600 by adding a new AM4 board and RAM if you’d like? Do you live near a Microcenter?

I’m not close to a microcenter, though 550-600 fits my budget. My target was around $300 to $700 for the CPU. I’ll explain my original meaning in the main thread.
