I own a B450 tomahawk max with a R5 2600. In the used market, I’ve noticed 2700 and 3700 models showing up more often. I’m thinking about starting to stream and editing videos more frequently. Which processor should I choose—2700 or 3700? Is the 2700 still performing well? Prices might be comparable, and some buyers might value my older R5 2600.
The 3700X offers significantly higher performance across all applications. If the cost difference isn’t substantial, it remains the superior option.
3700X fully supported. Enhanced boost clocks, doubled L3 cache, and numerous internal tweaks to deliver superior performance during communication between CCXs. Although it comes at a higher price, the benefits justify it. A 2700 (not X) represents only a minor improvement over the original Ryzen, while the third-gen architecture is a completely different design.
You already have a 2600, so the 2700(X) offers only small enhancements. The speed gains in streaming and editing are similar in many scenarios—often just the same—so the upgrade may not justify the cost. However, the 3700X is significantly faster than the 2600, representing a real improvement. The Ryzen 3000 marked a big jump over earlier models, and you’d definitely feel the difference in performance for streaming and editing.
The 5600G offers performance similar to the Ryzen 5 3600 with added integrated graphics. Using the iGPU for encoding can provide a small edge, though it won’t significantly improve video editing tasks. The 3700X excels in that area.
