Choosing among three motherboards might feel overwhelming.
Choosing among three motherboards might feel overwhelming.
I own a 13700kf with 32GB DDR5 6000 RAM. I’m not concerned about pushing overclocks. What I need is optimal performance for the CPU and RAM, plus smooth future upgrades. The Z790 seems like a solid choice because of its VRMs and features, but I’m still debating whether Asus might build it better despite lower voltages. Or is the higher cost just a brand factor? Am I misjudging?
Gigabyte offers the best value with solid performance, three M.2 slots, 2.5Gb LAN, and Wi-Fi 6E. The mid-range ASUS model is compact (ITX), ideal for SFF builds requiring a small footprint. The alternative ASUS lacks Wi-Fi and costs more. Choose Gigabyte for affordability and features.
It’s likely the high cost comes from its ITX design, which tends to be pricier. The build also feels more complicated—like the second M.2 slots are located at the rear of the motherboard. Wanting to take the whole system apart just to swap or install a different NVMe slot can make it even trickier.
Well there is no future proofing z790 or 760. The next intel chips are on a different platform.
Thanks for the response and resolving the issue. I'm ready to receive the gigabyte.
Sure, I'm happy to help. It was a bit confusing at first, but glad we got it sorted.
Yeah, out of those 3 the Gigabyte should be best price for performance. MSI MAG B760 TOMAHAWK WIFI may be worth looking at, it's 160$ at Amazon : https://pcpartpicker.com/product/CxLFf7/...ahawk-wifi Other than having the older but well known ALC897 for onboard audio, the features are comparable with the Gigabyte ones and it's ATX, you have one extra pci-e slot to play with if you want. Not 100% sure but I think it's even better at the mix of USB ports on the back, I see 5 usb 10 gbps on the back and a 20gbps port, Gigabyte has fewer high bandwidth ports.
