Provider details should be set up in the appropriate box if possible. Disable DHCP in the provider box and assign the 4040 to another subnet. This way, the 4040 will act as the central controller managing all traffic. Equipping each room with a switch and Ethernet connection allows seamless mesh expansion and ensures the 4040 oversees everything effectively.

Thanks for your assistance! I was planning to set up a subnet for the 4040. These modems from your provider often come with poor configuration options. The house had Ethernet connections in some rooms directly into a small basement room with the TV and power cables—ideal for a compact server space. However, whoever installed those cables did a terrible job. They’re mislabeled and have been disconnected for several years now. Figuring out which cables connect to which outlets should be an interesting challenge.

Well thats a fun weekend project And yes the provider stuff is cap. Thats why I convinced Vodafone to not even send me the VodafoneStation pice of . and directly got a 7591.... But sadly I dont have LAN in the walls. Having LAN between the Master and the Node is a huge improvement!

I received the Vodafone Station at my residence. The experience is quite poor. I configured PiHole on my network, but most provider boxes lack the ability to adjust the DNS settings. However, I’m planning a more hands-on approach now.

Laughing out loud, the red dot works fine. As long as you're not using the old Unitymedia version, you can set up a bridge through the "mein Kabel" site. Then you can use your own router and customize things as needed. I'm on Unitymedia Land, which is why I'm using my own modem+router (6591). It's UHM, and because the Wi-Fi and everything are much better with this model, the VodafoneStation can't even provide a full gigabit connection—though that's what you're paying for.
