I also faced issues with my P4 laptop after trying it out; it took several days and ended up failing the installation because it's GenToo. Even with a clear guide, understanding what to do proved difficult.

My initial Gentoo setup lasted a week, and I ended it by updating the kernel. Ugh.

Oh no, that’s a problem. I notice most Debian branches tend to cause a lot of trouble, except for Fedora.

Yes, they'd have to compile for a long time. Arch is simple to use.
