The main issues with deciding whether to wait or act now are common. When considering the next generation, it’s often better to hold off until issues are resolved. Purchasing immediately at launch can be risky since problems usually arise early. Once the new version is ready, waiting makes sense unless you need an upgrade and have the funds. Right now, AMD leads the market with strong options like the 3900x for general use and the 3950x for more demanding tasks. The 9900K remains top for gaming builds but lacks the multi-threaded performance of its competitors.
If Ryzen's track record is going to stay as is, then 4th gen wont be bringing anything major and there's no need to wait.
When I purchased this rig, it was already assembled and the temperatures were normal. However, I suspect I missed checking the cooling system thoroughly. The cooler appeared bent, and the thermal paste job wasn’t perfect. Probably the photo doesn’t capture the issue clearly—there was a nearly 3mm gap between the IHS and the cooler on one side. After installing the new cooler and applying fresh thermal paste, the temperature difference dropped to about 40°C.
