You're considering a ~$1800 gaming PC in Finland. Windows 7 is your preferred choice, but you're concerned about future support for peripherals like keyboards, mice, and games. Windows 8 and 8.1 are newer versions, and while they offer some improvements, older hardware may not run smoothly or receive updates. It might be safer to opt for Windows 10 if you want broader compatibility with modern components and better security features.

Windows 7 support will continue for many years. It remains the most widely used operating system. I favor Windows 8 because it performs better and offers more capabilities. You can switch to Start 8 or Start Back using various methods to make it feel like Windows 7 without sacrificing any benefits from Windows 8.

Windows 7 assistance will last for a while. I really like W7, but I've heard that 8.1 can function similarly to 7 while retaining the advantages of 8.1. Windows 9 is probably coming any time soon, so you might be getting ready for an upgrade soon.

In any case, I currently use Windows 7, and I could obtain Win7 Home Premium 64 bit for free, though I’d have to pirate or purchase it for eight units.

Of course, I'll make sure it's better than Windows 8.

What I've observed so far seems promising. It's possible everything is just fabricated, but it appears they might blend some Metro elements with a Windows 7 interface, which seems appealing. As long as I maintain control over the Metro presence, I'm quite satisfied.

Without Metro, Windows 8 feels like Windows 7. Microsoft could enhance Windows 9 further. Windows 7 works well as it stands.

I recommend Windows 8.1. It runs smoother and offers more tools. The main drawback of Windows 8 is needing to sign in or create an account, plus the start screen layout can feel a bit off.
