Hello, I'm facing a decision between Windows 10 and Windows 7 for my latest setup. I was using Windows 7 and it upgraded to Windows 10 without any input from me recently. Afterward, my audio quality suffered—sounds were unclear, there was static, and I had to restore the system to revert back to Windows 7. Now, since this new build is mainly for gaming and the upcoming DX 12 titles are expected, I’m leaning toward Windows 10. However, I’m worried about its current performance and quality, especially with many negative reviews despite its DX 12 support. Could you share any insights or concerns about Windows 10 right now?
You're focusing on creating an AMD build ahead of the Zen and Vega releases in 2017, without worrying about speed improvements.
Certainly upcoming titles might run exclusively on Windows 10!
Additionally, Zen and Skylake aren't fully compatible with 7...
The sole titles available exclusively for Windows 10 are Microsoft-released games. Counting them is easy—no other developers offer such games, and Microsoft releases them mainly to encourage adoption of the platform. By design, a true "Windows 10 only" title doesn't exist. Additionally, Microsoft's own games initially restricted themselves to Windows 10, but eventually made them accessible across all Windows versions after some time: http://www.polygon.com/2016/8/10/1242335...lease-date. Be mindful that any such game remains limited to the Windows Store for a set period, tied to its exclusivity window. Microsoft's Store titles are tightly controlled via UWP, making them essentially borrowed experiences—once the restrictions lift, modifications become difficult due to the platform's security model. In general gaming, Windows 7 offers broader compatibility and stability, resists automatic updates during online play, and supports Vulkan for better performance. I compared these aspects in a blog post and also addressed the Windows 7 versus 10 debate regarding user experience and gaming in another thread.
