I checked and Microsoft hasn’t completed their pricing structure yet. The benefit is that as a student, I can obtain Windows 8.1 Pro for $70.

I’ll stay on my trusted Windows 7 setup. Working with Windows 8 and 8.1 on client machines is fine, but the interface bothers me. I plan to upgrade to Windows 10 after the major issues are fixed.

I'm using Windows 8.1 Pro – it really works well for me. I think you'll enjoy it too as you use it more. I used to dislike Windows 8 but liked it once Windows 8.1 was released. What do you think?

Interface remains consistent, folks don't turn off the modern UI. Using Ctrl + search is faster than starting and searching. Launchers or search bars work quicker too.

Windows 10 is available for free when you join the "Windows Insider Program." It's currently referred to as a "Technical preview." You can find more details at the official Microsoft page.

Thank you for the link. I'll test it on my old rig first, as it successfully ran Windows 7 x64 without any issues.

It operates well on older machines too. Earlier versions with XP or comparable would likely function fine. Both 32 and 64-bit editions are expected to be supported.

Checking my details on Windows 10... I thought about upgrading from version 8.1. Is it possible to do that for free?
