Hello, I'm helping you choose a system for your first build. You're considering Windows 7 versus Windows 8. Since you'll be gaming, coding, and editing videos, you'll want the best performance. Also, you're new to Windows, so it's important to pick something user-friendly. Your feedback is valuable, thank you!

Allow a month to wait for Windows 10. You can place your order now if you'd like. Windows 7 doesn't impress much, and Windows 8 feels a bit unclear.

In a short time, Windows 10 will become available at no cost to users who already have Windows 7 or 8/8.1. It seems unlikely this will have a significant impact.

Windows 8 offers a smoother experience compared to Windows 7 across all aspects. It’s primarily a quicker operating system. If the default Metro interface isn’t to your liking, you can easily turn it off using free tools like Classic Shell. Alternatively, if you’re willing to invest a bit, starting with Windows 8 is a solid choice. These alternatives can hide the less appealing Windows 8 Metro design, making it feel more like Windows 7 while still benefiting from Windows 8’s speed. Additionally, using an SSD will further enhance performance.

Windows 7 isn’t included in the free Windows 10 upgrade. The offer currently covers Windows 8 and 8.1 only. Your assumption about Windows 8.1 might be correct, while Windows 7 remains unavailable.

Supported versions include Windwos 7 and 8.1. Version 8 requires the 8.1 update; 8 is not available.
