Consider purchasing two 4GB RAM modules instead of one 8GB stick. Using a matched pair allows dual-channel performance. A single 8GB stick is only practical if you can only buy it now and your board supports dual-channel configurations, such as an H81 or a mini ITX system with just two DIMMs.
