I’ve got a bit more cash lately, so I’m finally planning the AM5 top gun 7950X3D with 64GB RAM and an X670E board. At this price point I won’t cut corners on the board, but the high-end range of 800-1000EUR feels unrealistic. I’ve opted for the 500EUR range (around 400-450 EUR after VAT and exchange rate issues). Now I’m stuck choosing between MSI Carbon Wifi, Asus Strix E-E, Asus ProArt, or Aorus Master—since the latter is out of my budget near 600EUR. All options meet my needs and more, so here’s my pick and the reasoning behind it!

It's about whether you really need advanced specs like 670e features. The differences between a Gigabyte B650 and an AX Elite are minimal unless you're targeting a specific high-performance use case. I’d go with the most affordable option, since all these models seem overkill for typical needs. Also, do you think this is just for gaming?

tbh, the difference between the models isn't too big. maybe the asus rog strix offers a bit more usb 3.2 ports, but it wouldn't affect performance much if you opted for a cheaper x670e motherboard. unless you're after a better design or extra usb 3.2 connections.

For maximum performance, I’d choose the Aorus Master due to its superior VRMs—truly excessive even for a future 400W build, let alone today’s models. Still, it doesn’t offer good value.

I selected the Carbon WiFi during my previous purchase. It operates with just 32GB of RAM, yet achieves 6400MT/s without any adjustments from me. The absence of an Intel LAN is beneficial now, matching my needs when looking for boards recently.

I didn't choose the X670E just because I could—it felt interesting at first. The lighter B650 boards appear to start up quicker. My guess is that skipping the second chipset cuts a few seconds off during POST. X670E Taichi would appreciate your thoughts.

X670e Pro Art stands out with unique capabilities such as USB4 and type-c with 60W PD from the front header (using the 6pin near the 24pin). The VRM setup is solid, though the 7950x3D maxes out around 150W for a CPU. I purchased the X670e Aorus Master because I already owned a Gigabyte 4090, and the anti-sag bracket was tailored for that lineup. It really added value when buying a motherboard. I also appreciate the backplate, which reminds me of my mITX era when it mattered.

The Taichi features a very high VRM setup, which is accurate, but the Aorus Master performed 4C cooler during Hardware Unboxed's evaluation. In short, the distinction is minor enough that both models offer similar VRM configurations.

Ok thanks mates, but out of 5 replies I got 3 different choices and 2 telling me I don't need X670E (which I knew already, it's like why buying a Mercedes where a Dacia works too ? )
