Over the past two years I've used my B350-F gaming motherboard and have been eager to upgrade to a Ryzen 9. Right now I own a Ryzen 7 2700x. I'm curious which Ryzen 9 model would be best for me. I mainly play games on my PC, but I also enjoy playing BDO. With that game open while other titles run, it affects how much performance matters. I've been playing a lot of Escape from Tarkov too. I'm not sure if this changes the recommendation, but I'm happy to hear your thoughts!
The board isn't strong enough for any Ryzen 9 2. Using a Ryzen 9 just for gaming is a huge waste of money. If you don’t need a high refresh rate display, even a 2700x is fine. These titles don’t require top frame rates. There are other areas to invest in (memory, GPU) before the CPU.
Are you aiming for higher FPS? If yes, let me know your experience with the Ryzen 7 CPU—likely you don’t need a top-tier rating. If you can afford it, consider upgrading to a better GPU instead. The CPU alone won’t provide a major performance increase. Even a high-end B350 won’t work well with a Ryzen 9 since those chips weren’t released when the board came out.
Which standard are we referring to? If it's about typical benchmarks like 3DMark, you can simply match graphics performance and skip the physics section since it's more of a CPU evaluation.
Discussing GPU ratings. My 1080 performance is better than most 1080 models. Their scores are lower.
You're confirming your temperatures and speeds, and it sounds like the lower end 1080 model is working well for you. Both the CPU and GPU are consistently between 70-75.
