Heyo, here’s what I’m considering: MOBO DDR4 ASUS ROG STRIX Z690-A GAMING WIFI - 381,90€ MSI MPG Z690 EDGE WIFI - 325,90€ MSI MAG Z690 TOMAHAWK WIFI - 290,90€ MOBO DDR5 MSI MAG Z690 TORPEDO - 282,90€ ASUS PRIME Z690-A - 297,90€ RAM DDR4 G.Skill/Corsair 3200 32GB ~170€ This is for gaming mainly. I haven’t found a major gap beyond the Asus claim. Why not jump straight to DDR5?

I’d pick the most affordable model from your list—Asus PRIME Z690-A. I’d switch to DDR5 once drivers and support become more common, and DDR5 offers clear advantages over DDR4.

I haven't checked Intel motherboards in a while, so I can't give a specific recommendation. However, sticking with DDR4 seems wise for now—it's more affordable, allowing you to potentially upgrade your RAM and achieve good speeds without huge performance drops until DDR5 becomes more common and prices adjust. You're more likely to need extra memory capacity than raw speed right now.

It was just the same reason I delayed upgrading to DDR4 until last December—it never felt necessary for any work.

Head over to Tomahawk or go with Z690-A Pro or Prime Z690-P. The main differences aren't significant, and you might save money by choosing one. It's quite costly, and for gaming performance it doesn't really matter much. In about a year, things might improve, but right now it's having problems and isn't worth the effort.

Thanks everyone. I plan to stick with DDR4 now and switch to DDR5 when we hit maturity levels around 2133 versus 4000.
