Hello! I'm a new PC hardware user. I currently have four sticks with 8GB Trident Z 3200MHZ and I'm thinking about an upgrade. My question is why one model costs more than the other even though they're similar in speed? One is CL17 and the other CL19—what's the difference? Thanks in advance!

First, consider adding another type of RAM—it wouldn't make sense to mix them. The Corsair doesn't offer a clear advantage that justifies nearly double the price. The slight difference in CAS latency wouldn't impact your budget by thousands.

You're considering purchasing two 16GB kits and wondering if a HyperX is the right choice.

Wait... this is intel. Memory doesn’t matter for intel the way it does for AMD. Your gains from better memory will be minimal. Get the cheap stuff.

I understand this may seem unusual, but I'm focused on optimizing your setup to its full potential.

The reason I wrote this post is because the HyperX model is significantly more affordable—about 40% less—and it features a lower-profile case, which might explain the difference.

HyperX seems to offer better value and lower cost, but performance depends on matching RAM speed. Using slower or higher-latency RAM won’t improve things much since both sticks will operate at their slowest settings. For gaming, 16GB is usually sufficient and extra capacity doesn’t significantly boost performance. Stick with faster RAM instead of chasing larger sizes. It’s not about choosing between 32GB and 16GB for games—focus on compatibility and speed. Cheaper options aren’t always better; availability matters more. Corsair models may be outdated, so newer kits often provide better performance at similar prices. 19-23-23 Corsair vs CL19-21-21 HyperX at 4000MHz suggests HyperX remains a solid overall choice despite the price. Buying overpriced RAM doesn’t improve results.
