Choose the processor that best fits your workflow: Ryzen 7 5800X, Ryzen 9 3900X or Intel 10850K.
For 4K video editing and Lightroom, the Ryzen 9 3900X offers the best performance. The Ryzen 7 5800X is solid but less powerful, and the Intel 10850K may struggle with demanding tasks.
I chose the 10850k because it’s currently available for purchase if you’re willing to search. I purchased it for $320 a month back after my i7 5820k failed. The 5800 and the 10850k are closely matched in many benchmarks and trade-offs. The 5800 handles cooling better, while the motherboards tend to be more affordable. I recommend picking the CPU/motherboard combo that offers the best value.
If prices matched, I’d pick the 5800x. The quicker single-core speed would improve general responsiveness and tasks needing single-thread efficiency. Alternatively, you could refine the rest of the build to save money and get a 5900x. Also, there’s no need to start a new post because people kept responding in your previous one.
