Setting up my first PC with limited OS experience is manageable. Using Steam, Chrome, and Origin should work well enough for my needs. Windows can still be a good choice if it fits my workflow.

Yes, Windows is beneficial for those platforms since Steam and Origin mainly run on it. The cost might be a deterrent.

It depends on using Linux with many simple options, and it's good to verify if your Steam games are compatible.

It's definitely worth the effort. Most games and programs aren't compatible with Linux. It's a more refined operating system compared to Linux, though I don't mean it's perfect. It works well in many situations. I run it on all my other computers besides the main ones. Still, I believe Windows is simply superior overall, even with its flaws.

I rely on Windows and often face problems with updates, antivirus, and other features. It's frustrating because it feels slow and unpredictable. I didn't pay for these issues.

I favor Windows 8.1, though with a 10-series GPU I’d opt for Windows 10.

It's true that Linux lacks strong game support. That said, Microsoft Windows 10 or 8.1 offers a solid alternative.

Origin AFAIK lacks a built-in Linux client, so use Wine to run your titles; Windows would be more convenient. A few Steam games work natively on Linux, and the site has a filter to check availability. Chrome is officially supported on Linux as well.
