I understand your concern. Since you haven’t used Linux before, it’s best to choose a more familiar operating system. Windows or macOS would be safer options for someone new.

Ubuntu and Linux Mint are quite user-friendly, making them easy to learn. However, compatibility problems can arise with many programs since not everything runs smoothly. It might be better to stick with Windows or test Linux/Mint on an older computer to see what works best.

Windows 8.1 seems ideal for a fresh setup. Windows 7 works if you don’t like its design.
