I would choose either Windows 10 (provided the CPU change is viable) or a Linux/Unix distribution. Avoid outdated operating systems.

It could be an issue since Windows struggles with heavy tasks on DESKTOP C2Ds. Mobile CPUs are better suited for lighter workloads. You might want to try a user-friendly distribution like Manjaro or Ubuntu. Once installed, it will be much easier to adapt.
