It was once, but didn't succeed (thanks to me, not Ubuntu). Updated later. Posted to demonstrate I understand the installation process.

Well, it's similar to Windows Vista versus Windows 7 for me. Ubuntu feels too broad, Manjaro is just what you really need for an old machine, and Lubuntu might be a better option.

I don't think it really matters... but try 32, sometimes 64 might cause issues here and there... probably just a thing from the past. If you have more than 2 gig of RAM, go for 64.
